So here's my story from English Class. I found this VERY fun to write despite the challenges behind it. Enjoy!!
It was night as a woman was desperately trying to search the web for the fastest way to legally change her name. She knew that her pursuers would be able to track down her location in minutes and that if she couldn’t she would be finally be caught and that would be the end of everything. Finally finding the site she needed she began to print out her forms when suddenly the power went out and darkness fell upon her. Realizing the peril she was now in she quickly jumped out the window onto the landing below, stealthily dashed to a nearby building, and quietly locked the door. Gasping for breath she took a minute to read her surroundings until she recognized the place. After weeks of running and hiding she had somehow found herself back to where she started: the remains of a dirty old Laundromat located on the other side of her town. She knew the dangers that were behind this Laundromat and its employees all too well; a dangerous gang of thugs owned this lot complete with an extensive basement made for storing and selling beer. At this moment those very thug were chasing her for the thing she took from their secret basement: the small piece of paper that was now folded up in her jacket pocket.
Everybody on town knew that the best place to by the beer was at this small family oriented Laundromat just west of the DMV. Although deceivingly peaceful during the day, John’s Laundromat teemed with life during the night as people all over the area came to get one of the best beers ever to be made. However on one particular night one woman had secretly entered the ranks of the gang and soon gained the trust of the top dogs of the group. Her plan: steal the secret recipe of the beer, disable the processing plants, escape with no or minimal casualties. Her proceeded through the beginning stage of her plan flawlessly, but soon after problem after problem occurred. A minor gas leak in combination with sparks created from her own disabling device caused an explosion that not only alerted every person on duty, but also took out her means of escaping. Now desperate, she quickly disposed of the oncoming gang members and made her escape through the series of ventilation shafts up through the roof of the building. Jumping into the next building she quickly found her room and quietly went to bed to the sounds of sirens and the angry howls of her victims. But soon enough she found herself being tracked by her former gang members and was forced to flee from her hideout and continue on the run for the next following weeks.
After recalling the events that sent her spiraling into this mess, she got an unexpected phone call from the Boss. They quickly talked about her location and means of reaching headquarters to deliver the package. After discussing the more important matters, the Boss asked her how the name-changing process was going. Suddenly alerted she said everything was going as planned and hung up the phone. The Boss had never questioned how her mission was going, even in times like these. Realizing that headquarters had been compromised she quickly composed a quick text to the last person she completely trusted on her civilian phone that not even the Boss knew about. After sending the contents to the recipient and destroying her phone, she said her final words and began to walk out of the Laundromat to accept her fate; she never made it to the door before the shot was fired.

My week.......
So yeah this past week was one of the worst weeks this whole semester in terms of work. Starting off for the whole duration of the week I had four quizzes, 3 exams, a concert, and a presentation in English (as you all may well know) due over the whole week. However because of the large amounts of snow that had fallen in Blacksburg over the course of a week and a half, some of my quizzes and exams had to be pushed further back into the week due to the Math Emporium being enclosed or exams not being able to be administered so that almost all of my assignments for the week were pushed back to Thursday and Friday. Although I feel confident that most of my quizzes and exams were passing grades and my English presentation wasn’t too bad, I wasn’t able to prepare enough for my physics exam that took place Friday night. Though I had originally been doing well in the class with my quizzes and homework assignments, I wasn’t able to prepare well for the exam because of all my other work that I had regarded with a higher priority. Because of this I feel like that I’ve definitely failed my first exam of the semester in this class.
After getting all my work done for the week I enjoyed hanging out with the other guys in my hall. Aside from the numerous games of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3, and Super Smash Brothers with everyone, we all found a newfound enjoyment in the game called Mafia. This game consists of 2 (or 3) factions divided between the townspeople (with a cop and doctor) and a smaller faction about 1/3 the size called the mafia. In some games there may also be a third faction of one serial killer who is against both the town and mafia. Every game consists of two “times” of night and day. During the night while everyone is “sleeping” the mafia will wake up and select one person to kill during the night. The doctor and cop will also wake up respectively to try to save someone and find out the role of someone respectively. During the day everybody will “wake up” and try to identify who the mafia is to lynch them during the day. While the townspeople try to discover who the mafia is, the mafia will try to blame the town to kill them of, resulting in their win. The game also can include a narrator who basically serves as an entertainment for the game by making up ridiculous stories about how people died. The game involves a lot of strategy and deception on multiple peoples part and is highly addictive to play, especially to the people in my hall.

Ups and Downs
So yeah these past two weekends have been one crazy roller coaster ride for me. So two Fridays ago I already had my first concert of the semester with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble here at Virginia Tech. We performed for middle and high school students who had come to Tech to participate in the VT honor band that we host here every year. Not only was this the first performance of the year with the Wind Ensemble, it was also my last performance with the Marching Virginians for this school year. The Marching Virginians performed some of the stand tunes and marching shows that we had played over the course of the football season for the audience as well. It was sad that the year was already at its end and that I wouldn’t see my friends in the Marching Band for a while again. However we still had the Bandquet that took place on Saturday night.
Thanks to a VERY generous donation of $100,000 we were able to have our bandquet at the Inn at Virginia Tech. It was really great to dress nicely and see everyone once more before the work for the semester started to pile up. After great food, a funny slideshow, and awards the dancing started and everyone went crazy and started “breaking it down” on the dance floor. Of course the partying didn’t end there and eventually my friends and I were at the “dugout” for more fun. However this fun was short lived due to the events that occurred the following day.
Sunday afternoon I had finished most of my homework I received a text from my younger cousin. Unfortunately my Great Lola (grandmother) had passed away early afternoon. She had lived a full 101 years and I was greatly saddened by her death. Although I had only seen her a few times over the course of my life, I was still shocked when I heard the news. Also her viewing and funeral was to be held this past weekend and due to the timing of events, I was not able to make it to Canada where she lived. Through the whole week I struggled to let my depressed side get the better half of me and affect my studies. Even so, I could help but face the fact that I couldn’t make the viewing. As Great Lola’s first great grandchild I felt a strong obligation to be present for the funeral, if not just to be able to see her one last time. However I’m glad to know from my sister and cousin that all was well in Canada and that Great Lola knew how much I loved her.
Since then I have decided to create a gigantic family tree starting from her and ending with my generation. Although the snow that has covered Blacksburg has been fun playing in (including that amazing civilian vs. corp snowball fight!) I still find time to work on the family tree between my studies, if only for just 5 minutes at a time. I hope to finish soon so I can send it to all members of my family, including those who I have not met who still reside in the Philippines.
